First Day of Assistive Technology Course!!!
I am super excited to be in this course and I think there will be so much information that will improve the lives and education of my students...but....
I am still a little bit frazzled from the end of the school year!
Today was a great way to start off our brief window of time together because we jumped right in to the material, experiencing new websites, apps and technology. We have such limited time that it was great to walk away with a list of innovative tools that my kiddos could make use of next year. I was hoping that by the end of course I would have generated a selection to try out and at the end of the first day I already have a growing list!
It was also helpful to have so many terms, assessments and systems defined so early on. There is an established base for the days to follow and we have already been introduced to the language of many upcoming topics. Both the use of technology and the introduction of terms left me feeling like I was in a tech immersion program...a great way to learn!
In reflecting back on the morning, the moments that struck me most were the videos at both the opening and closing of the class. These were beautiful book ends of the possibilities that assistive technology can provide for all our students. I managed to start and end the day all teary eyed and emotional...I did mention that I am still a bit frazzled...but I probably would have been emotional anyway.
I, like you, was also hoping that I would have a few apps to try out in my classroom. I am really happy that I'm not alone in feeling the love for the apps we've already seen!
